New cat furniture

Freya and I have moved again. This time to a house that I bought, so no more moves for a while. Yay.

So, knowing we will be here for a while, I got my brother to make a bespoke window seat for her.

Design brief was low wide steps covered with carpet leading to a lounging platform at window height for her to loll in the sun. Upper platform based around her favourite pillow (with sides to stop the pillow sliding off)

The finished product, with model, below. The cat grass is optional of course. As are the toy dinosaurs LOL.

As an older (16 years) rear tripawd Freya needs fabric under her front claws to make her feel secure, as she can only do a short hop up. The width of the step is to let her pause and rest if she needs to (thinking further ahead to decreasing mobility).

  1. WOW what an awesome kitty lounge! It’s gorgeous and I’m sure it makes her sooo hoppy to look out like that. Lucky Freya!

How did she adapt to the new digs? Congratulations, what a big accomplishment that I’m sure gives you a feeling of security in our crazy world right now. So hoppy for you guys!

    1. We are three days in and she seems to be OK.

Purring and wandering with tail up and interested. Her exploring is sedate and some rooms are still closed to her, but all will be revealed.

The tail was a bit swishy the first night but, after she and I worked out where the steps to the bed should go, all good.

She is also getting onto the couch next to me to watch TV at night, which is a normal activity.

And the feeling of security is great.

  2. Freya’s window seat is perfect! I love the detail and the touches of greenery and dinosaurs.
How old is Freya now? It looks like she had her amputation 7.5 months ago. Wow!
    Congratulations on your new home.

  3. Whoops, change that to 7.5 years (not months) ago for her amputation. And now I just read that she’s 16 years old. Amazing!

    1. Yes, she is a grand dame of tripawd living. She also looks good for her age, and so far no arthritis even. Really until her cancer she was a healthy feline and her recovery from the operation was astounding to me.

    1. Thanks. She has a sunny windows seat two houses ago and she loved it. When I saw the window there I thought “let’s do it”.
